Volume 1 Issue 4 Monthly Newsletter December 2009

                   Commander's Corner
Comrades,

Yup, it’s that time of the year. My primary concerns are threefold. First is the welfare of our service members throughout the world. As we all know it can be a difficult time, especially if you are deployed. Second are their families here at home or abroad. Being alone without your spouse is tough. Lastly are the needy families of veterans here at home. Please keep all of them in your hearts and prayers. Now, once you’ve done that ask yourself: “What can I do to help these people?”

Please check out our calendar of events on this website. We always have something going on. This year our New Years Eve celebration will have an East Coast theme. Please fine the attached flyer enclosed. I know that a good time will be had by all. Our meals at the Post have been falling sharply, especially the Friday Night Dinner. Why not come down and join us for a great meal at a great price.

Our membership year ends on December 31. If you have now renewed, please do so. If not, as of January 1st you will no longer be a member. So please renew today.

I wish all of you the best of holiday seasons.

Yours in Comradeship,
Doug Carrington

Madame President

Sisters,

Wow, it’s December already! Happy Holidays to all of you and your families. I know all of you will be extremely busy this month with everything going on, but I ask that you set aside some time and remember our troops, veterans, families, and those less unfortunate than us. Barbara and Bobbi will be putting out a box for collection for Christmas Baskets for the needy and military families who need our help. Please be generous.

Doug, I and Veteran’s and Family Support Chairman, Nancy Badejo presented our Adopted Unit with their certificate of adoption at their monthly drill. Our unit is the National Guard unit in El Cajon and they will be deployed to Iraq in the spring. Nancy will be putting out a box for collection of items they will need.

I am happy to announce that we had a first. second and third winner in our Patriot’s Pen Essay contest and 1 winner in our Voice of Democracy contest. A big thank you to Tammie Arcon and Kathy Hillix for a great job as chairmen and judges along with the Commander, myself and Jim Higgins.

We had a wonderful Veteran’s Day ceremony and I would like to thank all that brought dishes and participated. Eddie said we had donations of $50 for buddy poppies – that is wonderful! Department Jr. Vice Commander Bobby Price gave a wonderful speech and of course we can’t forget our Sr. Vice Commander Keith MacDonald for his audio contribution as well.

Please check our calendar for all of the events coming up in December and our New Year’s bash in January.

At our Auxiliary Meeting on December 9th please bring a munchie and a gift to exchange (if you wish) for $10 or less. It’s going to be fun!

Last, but certainly not least, if you have not renewed your membership by December 31st, you are no longer a member in good standing. If there are any circumstances that you cannot pay, please see either myself, Chaplain Nancy Badejo or Membership Chairman Susan MacDonald and we will be there to help.

Have a Wonderful Holiday season and Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheri Carrington
President
                   Sr. Vice Commander

Currently out post membership is at 87.05%. We are 69 members short of reaching our 100% goal. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the Post meeting last month. We will have a drawing for 2 Life Memberships for those members that have paid their dues.

In closing I wish you and your families a Healthy and Prosperous Holiday Season.
