Comrades,
I would like to thank all from the Post and Ladies Auxiliary that were so helpful at the District Rummage Sale. And a big thank you to all those that donated items for it.
Our State Council of Administration was also a success. We participated in honoring our State Law Enforcement/Fire Fighter/EMT, Teacher, Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy awardees. It was a long, fruitful weekend with seemingly one meeting after another…..but it worked.
Please see the calendar for all the upcoming scheduled events and meals. The Official Visit to our District is from February 5 through 7. Our State Commander (and San Diego resident), Jack Turner, will be honored during that weekend with a Banquet on Saturday and our quarterly District meeting on Sunday at the Chula Vista Post. For those of you who would like to attend either of these events, please contact me, Keith or Ed.
Thank you for all you do and especially to our kitchen crews who bust their fannies every week to provide top-notch, inexpensive meals to our clientele.
Yours in Comradeship,
Doug Carrington
Dear Sisters,
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope that you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day. February brings a lot of activities to look forward to. The 4th through the 7th is the Official Visit from our Department President, Sue Wells and Department Commander, Jack Turner to the Mighty First District. Thursday, February 4th SABLE will be serving steak dinner to the Department Commander and President and their guests. I would love for as many of you to come down to welcome them to our Post and show them what a great Post and Auxiliary we have! The Official Visit Banquet will be held on Saturday, February 6th at the Town and Country Hotel in Mission Valley. If any of you would like to attend please see me and I can get you the reservation form. Our District meeting will be held on Sunday, February 7th at 9:00 a.m. at the Don Diego Post.
Wednesday, February 10th is our regular meeting night at 6:30 p.m. I was extremely pleased to see all of you at last month's meeting. It is so nice when we have so many of you there and can address the important business of our Auxiliary.
The District membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd at 6:30 p.m. I will find out the location soon. If any of you would care to attend let me know.
I would like to say a huge "THANK YOU" to all of you who helped and supported the Rummage Sale last month. OMG…………I wish we could have had better support from the District in advertising, but we still managed to raise about $250 for our Auxiliary.
On Saturday, the 27th at 9:00 a.m. our Post will be hosting a Flag Retirement Ceremony. This will be a very moving service and I encourage all of you to attend. The details are in the newsletter.
Once again, thank all of you who help in the kitchen and support our meals. This is the main way we raise money for our programs that are so important to our veteran's and their families as well as our community. Also please bring down your coupons that we send overseas for our troops and their families and your used cell phones for the "Cell Phones For Soldiers" program to give air time to our troops as well.
I would also like to encourage you to write an article for our newsletter. You don't have to be an officer to do this. If you have some information you would like to provide that will help our members and other veterans, this is a great way to broadcast it. Also it is a good way to promote your program if you are a chairman.
Thank you for all you do, see you soon!
Sheri Carrington
Sr. Vice Commander
Comrades,
As of this writing the Post membership is at 90.99%. We are 48 members short. This means that 48 people that did not pay their dues and are NO LONGER MEMBERS!
I will be posting a list of members that have not paid their dues down at the club. If you happen to know someone on the list, please contact them and ask them to pay their dues.
It's not too late; please contact us to pay your dues so we can get you reinstated as a member.
The more members our organization has, the stronger we are when it comes to voicing our opinions as Veterans.
Please pay your dues today.
