There have been quite a few activities so far this VFW year. One that we had to postpone which was our Flag Retirement Ceremony. Too much rain on the 27^th of February. Watch the board for flyers for the rescheduled date. We also have a Bus Hop coming up in May so sign up at the Post now.

First nominations for Post Officers will be held during our regularly scheduled March 10^th meeting. The positions available are: Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Junior Vice Commander, Quartermaster, Chaplain, Surgeon and Judge Advocate. As per the VFW National By-Laws the actual election of Officers will take place during out April meeting. All newly elected Officers positions will be effective Wednesday, June 22 at approximately 1600. Again, according to our National By-Laws, that is when the New State Commander is installed.

The 53^rd Annual Mass Installation this year will be at the Lakeside Post 5867. Luncheon at 11:30am with the installation beginning at 12:30pm. The price of the luncheon is $7.00 and features Salisbury Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Veggie and Salad. Please contact Sheri or myself before April 26 for reservations. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.

We are already into March, hard to believe! Next month at our Auxiliary meeting will be our elections for the 2010-2011 year. Please be thinking of which position you would like to run for or to nominate someone you think would do a good job for our Auxiliary. Also there are several chairmanships that you might be interested in. We always need new ideas and help working our programs. Here is a list of chairmanships so you can be thinking of what you would like to do:

• Americanism
• Buddy Poppy
• Cancer
• Community Service
• Historian
• Hospital
• Legislative
• National Home
• Youth
• Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy
• Veteran's and Family Support

Mass Installation of the new officers will be held at Carter-Smith VFW 5867 in Lakeside on Saturday May 8th at 12:30.

There will be a bus hop coming in from 1512 Encanto Post on Saturday, March 13th around 3:00p.m. Please come down and help greet them and show a great SABLE welcome.

The District Membership meeting will be held on Tuesday March 23rd at 6:00 p.m. at the National City Post 4630. If any of you would like to attend or need a ride please see me.

I am happy to report that thanks to all of your hard work our Auxiliary is 100% in membership as of March 1st!!

Please check our calendar for all upcoming events and meals. Thank you to Keith MacDonald for doing such an awesome job on our calendar and newsletter!

Don't for get to buy your Buddy Poppy card. Ask the bartender for the sign up book. This is an important program and should all support our Veterans any way we can. We also have a box for our Overseas Coupon Program and Cell Phones For Soldiers.

As of this writing the Post membership is at 92.68%. We are 39 members short. This means that 39 people that did not pay their dues and are NO LONGER MEMBERS! We are real close to becoming 100%; with your help we can do it!

Comrade's First nominations for Post Officers will take place during this months meeting, please plan on attending the meeting.
