Congratulations to our new Corps of Officers: Commander Dick Newman; Senior Vice Commander John Sallee; Junior Vice Commander Open; Quartermaster Ed McCoy; Chaplain Jim Walker; Surgeon Rod Richardes and Judge Advocate Doug Carrington. As per the VFW National By-Laws all newly elected Officers positions will be effective Wednesday, June 22 at approximately 1400. Again, according to our National By-Laws, that is when the incoming State Commander is installed.

Due to the unfortunate resignation of our Commander-Elect, first nominations for Junior Vice Commander will take place during our May meeting with final nominations and election during our June meeting.

The 53^rd Annual Mass Installation this year will be at the Lakeside Post 5867 and will begin at 12:30pm. All are invited to attend.

Upcoming events include the visit to our Post on Thursday, May 6 by the VFW Surgeon General Dennis Guthrie. He will be her with his wife for steaks. On Monday, May 31^st, our annual Memorial Day observance will be conducted by AmVets Post 17 and will be held in the hall at 11am.

Our Post will be having a Prime Rib dinner that evening. Please be sure and get your tickets early!

The VFW National Surgeon General will be visiting our Post for steak dinner on Thursday, May 6th. It would be great to see as many of you come down and extend a warm SABLE welcome to him.

I would like to thank all of you who come down and support our meals and functions. Lately, our meals have been slow for all the organizations. This is our only way to raise money that supports the many programs of the VFW such as our Troops, Veterans, Cancer, Youth and our Community. So, please come down, besides we like to see your smiling faces!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to all my officers and chairman. We have had a wonderful year and the Auxiliary is now 100% in membership…..Yeah!!!! At the close of the Department Convention next month the new officers will begin their year. Please support them; I know they will do a fabulous job!
